“THE STRUGGLE”

It is often said that more growth comes through struggle, than any other human experience. Staying present within it, one can find the joy of transformation, identity, freedom and understanding.

As an abstract painter, intuition played a big part in the journey of each piece. Each moment leading to another of evaluations and responses causing the work to have multiple layers. The use of unconventional tools in this series lead to explorations and experimentations yielding new techniques that created gritty textural finishes reminiscent of street art and graffiti. This balanced tension between loose organic lines and sculptural elements capture the emotions, memories and moods in each piece. Various mediums were used such as modelling paste, ink, spray paint and wood, with the intention of creating intriguing compositions that draw the viewer into the moment and its story.
